Turkey, Ham and Cheese Sandwich

In my opinion, today's diet advice seems to be discouraging to those individuals with busy lifestyles. How can you find the time to get your full 8 hours of sleep, exercise, get the kids dressed and ready to go, go to work, come home, make dinner, help with homework, relax and go to sleep. Just to wake up the next morning and do it all over again.

I am fully aware that some methods will work for one person and not the next. Meal prepping may be too much or too boring. It may also be something you are just not interested in.

I also realize a lot of people honestly just don't know where to start or even know what's ok to eat when trying to make a lifestyle change. Perhaps you go on vacation and get discouraged when you give in or completely disregard your diet, feeling as if all hope is gone. You failed.

You want to know a secret? No one is born perfect. If you are trying to break a habit, it WILL take some time and effort. It's ok if you fall off the wagon sometimes. Dust yourself off and keep trying. You will get there, I promise.

Now, when you're on vacation, you cannot forget to ENJOY yourself. Sometimes, you're going to have to work with what you have in front of you. There are so many factors that play into being healthy.

If you find yourself not knowing what to do, don't freak out or beat yourself up over it. Here is an example of something you can make for yourself.

Turkey and ham slices
Bread
Cheese
Mustard
Paired with a side of chía Greek yogurt.

If this isn't an option you have, it's ok. You're on vacation. Practice mindful eating: keep your portions under control, no distractions, eating when you're hungry and stopping when you're full. Listen to your body, it will tell you what it needs.
